Baja 2017 - from home to Denver

We headed south this winter for another journey to warm Baja California. We also toured through cliff dwellings in the southwest on the way.

135132 Tuesday, November 8th election day. No significance that we left on election day, that's just how it worked out. We are leaving at about 1 o'clock in the afternoon and we're headed for Crystal Hot Springs campground in Honeyville Utah. We're planning a short day today and maybe 2 more medium days as we look down the road to Denver, Colorado. As it turned out, we decided not to spend money to say at the hot springs and spent the night at Walmart in Brigham City, Utah. We parked along the right side and spent a very quiet and restful night at Walmart.

135441 Wednesday, November 9th. Today we are headed for Rawlins Wyoming. Perhaps some adventures along the way. We could not start the generator last night and today have added two bottles of seafoam to the gas and then we'll try the generator later today. After filling up and adding two bottles of seafoam, we drove 50 miles and stopped for smoothies. The generator started up and ran as smoothly as it has in a long time. We think that we should add seafoam every time we change the oil.

Devil's Slide

We thought we'd just spend the night at the Walmart in Rawlins since it's close to the freeway, but it was loud and the parking lot was small. Lisa found Teton Recreation Area in one of our camping books, it's a BLM area about 15 miles south of Rawlings. There are several free campsites here and a toilet. We were the only people camping although we heard coyotes howling. Although this is very isolated, we felt comfortable and slept well.

135771 Thursday, November 10.  Leaving Teton Recreation Area. Today we are headed for Denver to visit with Joe and Julie.

We stayed the weekend with Joe and Julie. Got an essentially free oil change at Jiffy Lube, we had a groupon and they had a special for Veterans day. The four of us went to see Postmodern Jukebox, it was a really good show.

136106 Monday, November 14th. Leaving Joe and Julie Derry's comfortable little home in Littleton Colorado, but stopped first at The Copper Pot for breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. We hope to travel halfway to Mesa Verde although we got a late start and it's already 3 o'clock.
